There were stories of television actresses like Ankita Lokhande, Jennifer Winget and Simran Kaur Mundi being considered for the female lead role. Later, reports emerged that Katrina was called in to play the lead after the shoot of her film “Bang Bang” was put on hold until Hrithik Roshan’s recovery after his recent brain surgery.
Contrary to all reports, Deepika Padukone has been finalised for the film which will go on floors in September. Though Deepika was always the front-runner, she opted to remain silent as her schedules were being worked out.
‘Happy New Year’ was supposed to go on floors in the month of July. But, due to Shahrukh’s shoulder injury which he caught up while shooting for ‘Chennai Express’, the makers of the film had to postpone the scheduled start to September,2013.
